Pals Christina Aguilera and Nicole Richie joined forces Saturday afternoon to celebrate the first birthdays of their children – Aguilera’s son Max, who turned 1 on Jan. 12, and Richie’s daughter Harlow, whose big day was on Jan. 11.
The joint birthday bash was held at Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman’s Beverly Hills home and the party theme was inspired by the classic children’s book Where the Wild Things Are.
To go along with the theme, a source says the party was attended by costumed mythical characters from the book.
About 40 guests, including Harlow’s dad Joel Madden, joined the casual backyard celebration. With surrounding trees decorated in festive blue, green and pink balloons, party guests nibbled on kid-friendly food, including mini peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches, catered by Los Angeles-based caterers Along Came Mary.
