There will be a new Spider-Man but Robert Pattinson won’t be playing to take the lead role — despite recent reports to the contrary.
The British actor was rumored to be the leading candidate to replace Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man in its fourth installment. But Robert won’t be taking the role because of his commitment to a hectic upcoming slate, including Bel Ami, Unbound Captives, and a potential Breaking Dawn production.
Sony Pictures, who are making Spider-4, have insisted the project will still go ahead but will now be released in 2012, instead of next year as previously planned. It is claimed that they will make a prequel about teenager Spider-Man.
