According to rumors, Prince Harry has been advised to cancel his £100 million Netflix deal because of The Crown’s portrayal of Princess Diana.
The Duke of Sussex has been chastised for being “completely mute” regarding the portrayal of his late mother on the show. In the new season of The Crown, Elizabeth Debicki is said to have taken over Princess Diana from Emma Corrin. The new series is expected to focus on Diana’s contentious 1995 tell-all interview with Martin Bashir, as well as other significant events in her life such as her divorce from Prince Charles and her relationships with Hasnat Khan and Dodi Fayed. Jemima Khan, Diana’s friend, was called in to assist the crew in re-creating her pal’s final years, but she walked off early this year, claiming that the production had not treated Diana’s narrative “as respectfully or compassionately as she had intended.” And now Prince Harry is being advised to keep his distance from the streaming behemoth. Harry has stayed completely mute regarding Netflix, according to Angela Levin, author of Harry: A Biography of a Prince. He should rip up the contract and speak up for his mother. Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty Magazine, does not believe Prince Harry understands. She assumed he hadn’t considered that when he made the Netflix agreement, but Meghan, who isn’t an idiot, would have. Meanwhile, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle have signed a multi-billion dollar contract with Netflix to produce documentaries, children’s shows, scripted series, and feature films.
